His relationship with Olivia Jane and Ruby C is difficult to figure out. While Olivia Jane is buried with him, and has a death date of 2000, indicating her status as a last wife, he was enumerated with his children in 1940 when Ruby C. was his wife. However, it was Olivia Jane who was given in the WWI draft registrations as being married to John Carroll Temple, who served in WWI, despite her age being 8 years old When he shipped out to Europe in May 1918, he gave his wife's name as Minnie. There is obviously a problem here, but it is not clear how to resolve it.
What may have happened is confusion of this John Carroll Temple, son of Alexander Wilbur Temple with John C. Temple, son of John Carroll and (Unknown) - whose dates are compatible with those of this John Temple, but then their wives are in conflict. It's pretty clear there is confusion among the wives, at a minimum, and possibly with John's parentage.
Possibly related to David A. Temple, b 1879, also enumerated in Linden Heights, OH, in 1920. His association as the son of John Carroll Temple is based on location in the 1930 census, and on their names. This requires proof. There was another John Carroll Temple, son of Alexander Wilbur Temple - whose dates are compatible with those of this John C. Temple, but then their wives are in conflict. It's pretty clear there is confusion among the wives, at a minimum, and possibly with John's parentage. Parents: Alexander Wilbur (Alex) TEMPLE-5506 and Sarah Caroline MYERS-39276.

John Charles (Charles) TEMPLE Jr.33712,67378 was born in 1859 in OH.716,106825,106826 The censuses put the year in 1859, but Find-A-Grave puts the year in 1864. He appeared in the census in June 1860 in Middletown, Butler, OH.3664 He appeared in the census in June 1870 in Dayton, Montgomery, OH.67365 John lived 312 South Jefferson in Dayton, Montgomery, OH in 1876.106827 First appears in the city directory in 1876, living with his parents. Combined with Atlas L. Stout and William M. Mills, under the firm name of Stout, Mills and Temple, the works were known as the Globe Iron Works. In 1890 he was a Vice President, The Dayton Globe Iron Works in Dayton, Montgomery, OH.80731 In April 1910 John was a factory engineer in Chicago, Cook, IL.106825 In January 1920 he was a hydraulic engineer in Chicago, Cook, IL.716 He died on 8 August 1923 at the age of 64 in Davenport, Scott, IA.106826,106830 He and May were enumerated as still married in 1910, though he was not in evidence. He was apparently dead by the time she died in 1928.
Died of aortic incapetence [sic]. Body removed to Dayton, OH, for burial. Buried in Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, Dayton, OH, Section 107, lot 1854. John held the title of Jr.. It is possible that he is the father of Blanch(e), Cora, Frank, John, Alexander and/or Peter, all of whom appear in Dayton at about the right time for them to be related. John (1897-bef 1940), husband of Iva Black, may well be his son. Alexander, while probably related, was not buried in the he same cemetery, unlike several other family members, probably pointing to Alexander's not being the son of John Charles.
Appears in the census both as John and as Charles.
John disappears from Dayton city directories in 1896.
His parents were from IL (father) and NC (mother) in 1920, but his father was from Scotland in 1910. I think he is John Charles Temple, who appears in the 1910 census without his wife in 1910. He is very likely then, with a second wife, Audrey, in 1920. He underwent a strange change of careers - from an iron works supervisor to a factory hydraulic engineer, which seems an unlikely change.

There was another John Cobb Temple who was enlisted in the Navy in WWII who seems more likely to be his father. However, Temple People Vol. 1 said the son of John Wesley Foster II was one John Cobb II. The representation here seems to fit the facts better.
