Research by Chet Rhodes indicates that Mary may have been related to the Godwins. He wrote "I have been working under the assumption that Axey was a Temple since I found the marriage bond for this family. It was this past summer that I got a copy of Nancy Jane Temple McLeod's death certificate. It shows her mother's surname as Godwin. Her death was reported by W. M. McLeod. I assume that this is her son Walter Millard McLeod. Because I was having so much trouble confirming Axey's lineage this just floored me and gave me new hope. So far it hasn't panned out though."

In August 1860 he was a farm laborer in Ewing, Mercer, NJ.³⁴¹⁴¹ Enumerated in the household of Lewis and Mary E. Akers, of no known relationship. In August 1870 Azariah was a laborer in Ewing, Mercer, NJ.³⁴¹⁴⁴ Appears by himself. He appeared in the census in June 1880 in Lower Wakefield, Bucks, PA.³⁴¹⁴³ Enumerated as the father-in-law of Nelson Smith. Nelson Smith was ae 45, and a widower, whose wife had previously married a Thompson, because also enumerated with them in 1880 was Anna Thompson, ae 18, who was Nelson's step-daughter. It seems reasonable that Nelson was the son of Nelson and Rebecca (Temple) Smith, where Rebecca was Azariah's sister. The younger Nelson, with whom Azariah was staying in 1880, could have married Ellen or Anna Temple, about whom I know little. He died in 1881 in Trenton, Mercer, NJ.^12273,21283 Azariah has reference number RLT # 332.¹³⁰⁴¹ It is tempting to combine Azariah husband of Mary Mulnox with Azariah, husband of Sarah Jaquish.
