Sarah died on 6 June 1918 in Sidney, Kennebec, ME.^21,50467 She died of cancer of the uterus, from which she suffered for a long time. Buried in the Pease lot in Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta, ME.

A family story may be about her death. She fell down the cellar stairs while stacking freshly baked pies on the cellar shelves. The kind and charitable relatives could only remark at the wake that it was indeed fortunate that the bereaved family need not be bothered with cooking at such a time. She lived Quaker Hill in Manchester, Kennebec, ME.⁵⁰⁴⁶⁷ A story has it that she made some wine and left the old grape skins and pulp about the yard. Her flock of geese then ate them and apparently died, being dead drunk. She was horrified to see them dead, but was determined to save something even though the unbled meat was unfit for human consumption. So she thought she could at least salvage the feathers.
