Her uncle, La Fayette Parker, was a minister with no male heirs. He offered her $500 to name her next male child after him, which she did. He and his wife Lucy lived in Racine, Wisconsin at the time (according to photograph of Lucy Parker).

The information on her death certificate was supplied by Mrs. James Brannon, who called herself a niece, but could have been a great niece.
