While some sources (such as marriage records) give her surname as Bott, it seems more likely that the Iowa state censuses got it right, and it was Back, or most likely, Beck. If the latter, then she was Marg Beck, enumerated boarding while going to school in Ottumwa, IA, in 1870, ae 11. There was, however, one German Bott in IA in 1860 - and that was George Bott.
