William TEMPLE died in 1849 in Erie Co., OH.^43800,51958 There were three epidemics of cholera, in 1849, 1852 and 1854. William succumbed to the first, which lasted from 2 Jul to 7 Sep. The panic it caused precluded an accurate recording of his death date. Buried in the Cholera Cemetery on Harrison Street in Sandusky, OH. He may have been the son of John Temple, who died in Erie Co., OH in 1861.

William TEMPLE lived in Maitland, Hants, New Brunswick, Canada in 1863.⁵¹⁹⁵⁹ He died on 3 March 1863 in At Sea.⁵¹⁹⁵⁹ He was serving as a hand aboard the schooner Gypsey when at lat 36 50 N, long 66 30 W, a gale and heavy sea caused the schooner to be knocked down and waterlogged. The captain escaped by crawling out a cabin window, but Temple was washed overboard along with three others.

William TEMPLE¹³⁸⁶¹ was born in 1649 in Potterne, England.⁹⁷⁹⁴ The Compendium of American Genealogy says he was from Coombs Lane, Wiltshire, England, but other sources seem to disagree. The Compendium is not all that reliable, so I have shown the date and place from the GEN UKI site, provided by Gail Temple, <GLRT1947@aol.com>. He died on 22 August 1702. His son William mentioned that he had a second wife (unnamed). This was the cause of the younger William's leaving England. Research by Gail Temple, <GLRT1947@aol.com>, has not indicated that the second wife existed, or if she did, that she was legal.

William TEMPLE was born about 1662 in Surry Co., VA.¹⁸¹⁴ He received 191 acres of land from Phillip Ludwell on 1 January 1694 in Albemarle, Pasquotank, NC.^1814,1815 Research by Ralph Berlyn Temple places the date of the first grant on 1 Feb 1694, with a subsequent grant of 150 acres on 1 Aug 1694. Both were in the Albemarle area. He recipient of a survey warrant on 2 August 1694 in Albemarle, Pasquotank, NC.¹⁸¹⁵ He received a survey warrant for bringing 13 "peons" to Albemarle from the Secretary's Office of the Lord Proprietors. Of the 13 settlers listed, we find Robert and his wife Elizabeth, and William and his wife Elizabeth. William appraised estate of Elizabeth Reed on 29 November 1694 in Pasquotank Co., NC.^1814,1815 Her name is also given as Elizabeth Roads. William Temple, along with Austin Scarborough, Thomas Cartwright and Richard Madren were appointed to appraise the estate of Elizabeth Reed on behalf of her nearest relatives, Thomas and William Relfe. At the time, this area, known as "Souther Plantation," was in Virginia, but later became Pasquotank County, NC. I suspect it is possible that she was the mother-in-law of William. He died in 1696 in Pasquotank Co., NC.¹⁸¹⁴ Died intestate. His heirs included his parents, Robert and Elizabeth. Parents: Robert TEMPLE-35066 and Elizabeth -35067.

William TEMPLE^5417,8936 was born on 6 June 1662 in Hutton Bushell, Yorkshire, England. He immigrated on 12 December 1678.⁵¹⁹⁷⁴ A prisoner in Edinburgh Tolbooth, he was transported from Leith to the plantations aboard the St. Michael of Scarborough. He lived in Charles City, Charles, VA in 1687.^31490,51975 The earliest record for William was a suit filed 3 Feb 1687 in which he was the plaintiff. In the 1690s, William Temple, along with Samuel Tatum (his father in law) and Richard Ligon received a patent for 1022 acres of land in what is known as Warwick Swamp in Bristol Parish. He was still a resident when he registered a distinctive mark for his livestock in April 1693. William in receipt of a patent of land on the Appomatox River on 24 April 1703 in Warwick Swamp, Charles, VA.³¹⁴⁹⁰ Received 627 acres for transporting 13 settlers. He sold land to his son Thomas out of his own tract on 7 September 1724 in Bristol Parish, Prince George, VA.²⁷²⁸ He died after 31 October 1726 in Prince George Co., VA.²⁷²⁸ On this date, he was mentioned in a land deal involving Jacob Deerheart. Although the numerous children given here for William and Rebecca are probably correct, only Samuel, Thomas, William and John are proved. William TEMPLE^1829,3008 was born on 15 August 1704 in Concord, Middlesex, MA.^{3008,51977,51978} Essex Institute cites Perry's Scotch Irish, p. 14, which indicates William came to America from Ireland before 1729. It is not clear where the confusion comes in, but this is clearly the same William cited in the Essex Institute article (all the children and the spouse match exactly, as do the dates). He lived 158 Holden Street in Worcester, Worcester, MA between 1729 and 1745. He died on 20 February 1795 in Alstead, Cheshire, NH.³⁰⁰⁸ Rise of the Temples indicates death place as Winchester, NH. William was a Carpenter.³⁰⁰⁸ He was a Housewright. Reported moved to Vernon, VT and to Winchester, NH. Perry's Scotch-Irish, p. 14, indicates he or his line came from Ireland before 1729. This disagrees with both Levy Temple's Some Temple Pedigrees, and Albert Temple's Rise of the Temples. Parents: Dr. Richard TEMPLE-33 and Mary BARKER-4962.

The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Vol. XVIII, pp. 88-90, which gives the 10 children of Anne Arnold and Joseph Temple, but lists William's wife as a Miss Cownes of King William Co., VA. Parents: Colonel Joseph TEMPLE-4447 and Anne ARNOLD-16128.
