Private Robert TEMPLE served in the military in 1778.⁴⁹³⁵² Served as a private. In a skirmish with Indians and Tories, Private Temple was killed in the battle of Chestnut Woods, and lies on the battle site. He was part of a contingent under Lt. Graham. The skirmish appears in the report by Col. Cantine in Governor Clinton's Public Papers, Vol. 4, pp. 16-19. He died on 5 September 1778 in Grahamville, Sullivan, NY.
