His presence is confusing, since Frank Henry, born 13 years later, is another son named Frank. Frank Oliver disappears from the records in 1900, after which only Frank Henry was found.

Some Temple Pedigrees assigns him as the son of Henry C. and Ann (Wright) Temple, and that is consistent with the 1870 and 1880 censuses. However, they also had a son named Frank Henry Temple, and that can be definitively proven. It is not clear if Frank Henry Temple was the husband of Anna Phelps, but I have assumed that Some Temple Pedigrees is otherwise correct, and assigned her to Frank Oliver Temple. This is consistent with the WWI draft registration of Frank Henry Temple, since the latter gave as his next of kin in 1918 his sister Bertha, who had by then married Frank Barnhart. While it is tempting to identify him with Francis Sheridan Temple, as there are a number of similarities and similar timing, the key difference is that Frank was married to Allie in 1897, but Sheridan was still married to and enumerated with Ida Mc Dorman in the 1900 census. Short of bigamy, the likelihood is that they are not the same person. To complicate things, no one named Frank was found as Frank, Franklin or Francis in IA in the 1880 or 1900 censuses. The two men also had radically different occupations.
