He did not appear with George Price and Mary Ann (Howe) Temple in the 1900 census, though some researchers put him in this family. His WWI draft registration said his next of kin was John Temple of Valley Center, KS, who was the brother of George Price. However, no child born in 1899 appeared with John Franklin Temple, either. Since Galen was enumerated with George Price in 1910, it may be that his birth year is incorrect. However, it was consistently reported in 1899. Thus, it is not clear why he gave John Franklin Temple, his apparent uncle, as his next of kin in his draft registration. So placement of Galen is arbitrary. Garnet appeared in the census in July 1870 in St. Joseph, Champaign, IL.⁹⁴⁰² In June 1880 he was a common laborer in Sidney, Champaign, IL.⁹⁹²⁷ He appeared in the census in 1890 in Manlius, Onondaga, NY.⁴⁰⁰⁰⁴ In April 1910 Garnet was a quarry engineer in Vance, Vermillion, IL.³⁰⁶⁶² He died on 20 September 1913 in IL.^9400,40005 Killed by a train. Buried in Davis Cemetery, Danville, IL. I believe that this is the son who is listed in census as: 1. In 1860 census, it appears that his name is Garnet and 6 years old,; 2. in the 1870 census, it appears that he is listed as Gian N, 3. Garry ae 25 in 1880, 4. in 1910, he appears as Garrie V, b 1855, but in NJ, with parents from VA. Obviously, there is some confusion here that requires resolution.
