Not much is known of her, and she is derived from information in the 1900 census. Charles was enumerated with Mattie, b Apr 1883, given as his wife. That is unlikely, as they claimed 11 years of marriage, and even if she fudged her age a bit, she was still under 10 when married. His first response for length of marriage was either 19 or 9 years, overwritten to be 11. Since Mattie was born a little over a year before Howard, Charles' eldest issue, I suspect Mattie was his daughter from a marriage in 1881. That would have made Charles 21 when married, which makes sense, while little else about the claims of marriage in 1900 does.
