Temple, who married in Ferry Co., WA in 1917 - there were simply no other Temple families in the area at the time. He was a witness at her wedding, along with his wife Hettie. The closest tie-in, though, seems to go back to Christopher Temple, b 1814, England. I don't think he is the son of Christopher by Adaline Ludlow. Christopher may have had an earlier marriage, and George might be a grandson from that marriage, based strictly on timing. However, no such child showed up in the 1850 census for Christopher. So, perhaps the relationship was that of cousins, but the proof of it lies in England. Parents: TEMPLE-115714 and Mary Susanna TUNAY-115715. George Henry TEMPLE11822,71143 was born on 17 February 1837 in Gilsum, Cheshire, NH.9805,11822,11825,17415,71144,71145,74554 Many sources give the place as Keene, NH, but his death certificate says Gilsum. Some sources make the date 15 Feb, but his death certificate said 17 Feb. He appeared in the census in August 1850 in Alstead, Cheshire, NH.71144 He moved before 1860 in Alstead, Cheshire, NH.2118 In June 1860 George was a laborer in Alstead, Cheshire, NH.71145 He served in the military between 1861 and 1864.74555,74556 He enlisted 17 Oct 1861 at Alstead, NH as a private in Company E, 6th NH Infantry. He served until expiration of his service and was discharged 27 Nov 1864 at Pegram House, VA. We also know of his service indirectly, since the story of his friend Leroy White, is recorded, and goes as follows:

"Thomas Leroy White had the honor of being the first volunteer in the state to enlist in the War of the Rebellion, enlisting in Keene, N. H., with the three months' men, and afterwards in the Sixth Regt. N. H. Vols. At one time, he had his cartridge bag shot into, which fell to the ground. At another time with a friend, George Henry Temple, while on the retreat from the second battle of Bull Run, a ball passed to the ground between them." In June 1870 he was a farmer in Alstead, Cheshire, NH.28266 Identification of George Henry as the George enumerated with Thomas and Sarah Temple requires confirmation. George granted a Civil War pension dure to malaria on 17 June 1882 in Keene, Cheshire, NH.74557 Pension number 211,621. He was ill with contracted malaria in 1897 in Oakham, Worcester, MA.74556 He admitted to the National Disabled Soldiers Home between 1901 and 1907 in Togus, Kennebec, ME.74556 He was admitted 11 Jan 1901 and was discharged at his own request 2 Jan 1907. He had heart problems, suffered from malaria, hemorrhoids and digestive problems. When discharged in 1907, he claimed he was a widower. George died on 29 December 1906 at the age of 69 in Wilton, Hillsborough, NH.21,11822,74554 Died of liver disease and a weak heart. Something is odd about his death date, in that there are no other candidates but reports vary greatly. Rise of the Temples says he died in 1893, which he did not. His death certificate says he died in Wilton, NH on 29 Dec 1906. However, he self-discharged himself from the Disabled Soldiers Home on 2 Jan 1907. Buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Keene, NH. It seems highly likely that George Henry Temple did not have all the wives presented. His records while admitted in the National Disabled Soldiers Home between 1901 and 1907 leave no room for interpretation that he claimed he was a widower; his next of kin he claimed initially was Mrs. Lizzie A. Comstock of Worcester, MA, who may have been his fourth cousin through Richard Temple, and who must have died before 1907, because she was stricken and Mrs. Allen M. Banks of 44 7th Avenue, Lowell, MA, replaced her. Since he was discharged voluntarily in 1907, he was quite alive, for at least some additional time, and did not appear to be married. That indicates that Carrie Sawyer and Etta Ellis may have been wives of some other George Temple. Also, they were in a different part of NH, when he claimed he was returning to Nashua, NH upon his discharge. His death certificate indicates he was a railroad employee, a fact not found elsewhere in the prior censuses, and died in Dec 1906, despite the withdrawal from teh Soldiers' Home in 1907. While this seems to indicate there were two men of similar age and name, it may be that someone else took the action to close his accounts at the Home after he died in late December. George Henry (George) TEMPLE1677,7643 was born in May 1863 in Warwick, Lambton, Ontario, Canada.103,7651 He lived in Lambton Co., Ontario, Canada in 1897.7644 In 1909 he was a farmer in Oil Springs, Lambton, Ontario, Canada.74574 In 1911 George was a farmer in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.7651 He died on 7 February 1922 at the age of 58 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.36656 Buried in Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. He claimed English ancestry. He and Charlotte apparently separated or divorced, since she was enumerated in 1916 as a widow. It is possible that his birth and death dates are confused with another George Henry Temple (1862-1913), whose earlier death would explain Charlotte's claim to being a widow. Both men were apparently in Medicine Hat, and are both buried in the same cemetery. Parents: George TEMPLE-72533 and Margaret -72534.

Spouse: Charlotte Ann AINSLEY-72525. Charlotte Ann AINSLEY and George Henry (George) TEMPLE were married on 10 May 1889 in Warwick, Lambton, Ontario, Canada.7653,7654 Children were: Charlotte Amelia (Charlotte) TEMPLE-72520, William Russell (Bill) TEMPLE-72532, Alice Victoria TEMPLE-72529, Albert Rodger (Albert) TEMPLE-72526, Arnold Ricton (Arnold) TEMPLE-72528, Annie Pearl (Pearl) TEMPLE-72530, Roy Stanley (Roy) TEMPLE-72531, Mervin Walter TEMPLE-72537, Orville Ansley TEMPLE-72524.

George Henry (George) TEMPLE was born in August 1864 in Holland.34283,50152,50154,50156 He immigrated in 1889.34283,50152,50156 He was naturalized in 1890.34283,50152 Year might be 1893. In June 1900 George was a farmer in Clyde, Whiteside, IL.50156 In April 1910 he was a farmer in York, Carroll, IL.50154 In January 1920 he was a farmer in York, Carroll, IL.50152 In January 1920 George was a railroad laborer in Fulton, Whiteside, IL.34283 The enumerator seriously messed up this family in 1920. Enumerated with the Temple family were some children of the next door neighbors' but listed as children of George and the person listed as his wife. The person listed as his wife was Bessie, ae 24, who must be a daughter, since George's wife seems to be Jennie, who immigrated and naturalized at the same time as George, but she is listed as "mother." On top of that, a number of people about 20 years younger than George are all listed as brothers, but they must be brothers of Bessie, not of George - so they must actually be sons of George and Jennie. I think that Bessie was indeed a wife, but her husband is absent, and further, she was with her parents as a result of very recent (within the month) childbirth. He died on 23 November 1928 at the age of 64 in Fulton, Whiteside, IL.50153,74575,74576 Buried in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL. This family had an interesting time in the 1920-1930 censuses. At one time I thought there were two families with extremely similar data, and now believe that it was one family with two distinctly different occupations. At times, they were railroad workers, and then working on a farm. The similarities are simply too extensive for these to be different families. The enumeration as farmers in York, IL took place on 26 and 27 Jan 1920, while the enumeration as railroaders was on 14 Jan in Fulton, IL. He may be related to Tillie Temple, b 1871 in the Netherlands, who married Andrew VanDerZee, based on timing and loaction in South Holland, Cook, IL.

Spouse: Jennie PRINZ-49403. Jennie PRINZ and George Henry (George) TEMPLE were married in 1893.50154,50156 Although it was late in life, they both claimed this was their first marriage in 1910. Children were: Bessie TEMPLE-49417, Stella TEMPLE-49420, Henry P. TEMPLE-49421, Jeanne (Jennie) TEMPLE-49418, David TEMPLE-49404, Albert G. TEMPLE-49405, Andrew G. TEMPLE-49406, Maria TEMPLE-49407.
