Based on his parents' birthplaces, I suspect that the relationship was through his mother, not his father. Daniel lived in Buffalo, Harper, OK in June 1911.³¹³³ In 1918 he was a manager of Temple Auto Company in Gate, Beaver, OK.¹⁹⁴⁴¹ In January 1920 he was a hardware merchant in Balko, Beaver, OK.¹⁹⁴⁴² In April 1930 Daniel was a box factory engineer in Hutchinson, Reno, KS.¹⁹⁴⁴⁰ He died on 6 April 1958 in Alameda, Alameda, CA.¹³⁹⁹ His parents were from IN (father) and IA (mother).

This person and his family need some in depth research. While his age roughly matches that of Daniel Harlan Temple, it is hard to match them up. I suspect that there was a transcription error in the records, and that he was not Dr. Harlan Temple, but D. Harlan Temple when he married Hattie. It is thus also not clear who was the mother of his children. It is also possible that there is an error associating Hattie with Daniel Harlan. Arguing against this being an error, however, is the 1930 census. Ida gave her age at first marriage as 25, and that would have put their marriage at 1905. However, Daniel said he was 33, which was the age he would have married Hattie or 1912. That leaves Ida's marriage unexplained, and indicates she was probably on her second marriage as well.

All of this creates problems for the children. The three daughters would put their parents' marriage in about 1913, and that is consistent with when Hattie was married to Daniel, and it also matches when Ida says she was first married. Then there is Harold Everett, who was born before either of them married Daniel, leading to a possibility of an even earlier marriage for Daniel Harland Temple. Sandra Perdue reported he enlisted in the famous company of "Oconto River Drivers," which later became known as Company "H," 4th Regiment of WI Calvary. He saw quite a bit of action in the deep south, but was sick much of the time. When he returned home he married a widow, Agnes Volk Andrews who had 3 children. Her husband was in the same company as Daniel, but was killed during the war.
