His death date is inconsistent with the births of his last two children. Name also appears as Charles Jesse. Research is difficult on the line of Hortons who ended up in North Carolina. They may be related to the line from Barnabas Horton, a very early immigrant, whose descendants, in part through his son Joshua, migrated south to South Carolina before the Revolutionary War.

He is of the same vintage and similar locations as Willifred Horton, and I suspect research will show he and Williford were brothers or at worst cousins.
