Temple that transferred from Company I, 15th Regiment of Virginia Cavalry after 1864 into the headquarters of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Division of the 9th Army Corps in North Carolina. Paroled on 14 Apr 1865, if this is he. The alternative is that the William S. was William Skyrin, but he had served in the artillery. In August 1870 he was a farmer in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank, NC.¹⁶²⁵² His farm was then amidst several farms apparently owned by his freed slaves, some of whom adopted the name Temple.
